Mohamed Al-Shaaban
Dr. Mohamed Al-Shaaban is the Chief of Health Policies and Programs at the Supreme Council of Health in Bahrain. He previously worked as a General Surgery Resident at the Ministry of Health. On top of his M.D., he holds an MS in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University in New York after receiving the Fulbright Scholarship in 2012.
Al-Shaaban has served as a part-time broadcast journalist at the national Radio and Television station since 2006. During his time in the States, he worked as a foreign correspondent with the Associated Press and interned at the UN Media Office. He also worked as a Fellow at the First Deputy Prime Minister’s Office- as part of the first Fellowship batch in 2015-16.
Mohamed has won two regional awards for his scientific research on Cardiac Hypertrophy, which he presented as his graduation project for his BSc of Medical Research from the University of Manitoba.
Mohamed has an interest in politics, history, and filmmaking.
